Alice Owen, born Aug. 17, 1932, passed away peacefully at age 92 on Feb. 11, 2025, at her home in Lynden, surrounded by her loving family.
Alice was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, and grew up in the picturesque town of Kimberley, British Columbia. After attending business school in Calgary, Alberta, she met the love of her life, Stan Owen, in Telsequa, B.C. They married in 1952, beginning a beautiful journey together that spanned decades.
The couple moved to Juneau, Alaska, where Stan worked for Alaska Coastal Airlines and their daughter, Patty, was born. Later, they made their home in the Seattle area, where Stan worked for Alaska Airlines. Alice enjoyed a fulfilling career with Doctors Box and Kemp in Juneau, as well as with various insurance agencies over the years.
After retiring to Lynden 26 years ago, Alice and Stan enjoyed the peace and joy of their golden years. Together, they built cherished memories of travelling the world and frequent trips to Alaska and Hawaii. Alice enjoyed golfing, gardening, decorating her home with care and creativity, and loved being a grandmother.
Alice was predeceased by her devoted husband, Stan, her parents, and her younger sister. She leaves behind a family that adored her: her beloved brother, William Ratcliffe; her daughter, Patty Owen (Bruce Kato); her granddaughters, Shanna Burns (Ragan), Lindsey Kato (Jordan), and Kylie Kato; her great-grandson, Asher Kato; her dear nieces and nephew; treasured friends Joel and Monica Weyhe, as well as relatives in Norway.
In keeping with Alice’s wishes, no formal service will be held. The family invites you to honor her memory through a donation to Whatcom Hospice Foundation, 2901 Squalicum Parkway, Bellingham, WA 98225.
