Since the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai in 2008, political relations between India and Pakistan have detoriated with the effect felt on the cricket field, with no bilateral series taking place between the two nations apart from a short three ODIs and two T20I series on Indian soil in 2012–13.
The last Test match between India and Pakistan took place in December 2007, when the two teams played a two-match series in India. "I totally believe that! They are a good team." "Last test match played between India and Pakistan was way back I think in 2006 or 2008 (2007), where Wasim Jaffar got a double hundred in Kolkata," said Rohit on the Club Prairie Fire podcast.
"I would love to. At the end of the day, we want to be in the contest. I think it will be a great contest between the two sides. We anyway play them in the ICC tournaments. So, it doesn't even matter. It's pure cricket that I am looking at. I am not interested in anything else. It's just pure cricket. A battle between bat and ball. It will be a great contest so why not," Rohit added.
In the last decade, India and Pakistan have only faced each other in white-ball cricket, with contests limited to matches in ICC events or the Asia Cup. While they can play each other in the final, Pakistan is yet to qualify for the summit clash.
India and Pakistan will next face each other in the 2024 T20 World Cup on June 9 in New York.
